Product Dimension groups differences between in MS Dynamics AX 2009 and 2012.

Hi All,

Now we are going to discuss briefly about changes or differences of Dimension groups with respect to MS Dynamics AX 2009 and 2012.

In AX 2009 we have 2 types of Inventory dimensions. They are

1) Item dimensions.

2) Storage dimensions.

In Item dimensions we have

1. Size

2. Color

3. Configuration

In storage dimensions we have

1. Site

2. Warehouse

3. Location

4. Pallet id

5. Serial number

6. Batch number

 

In MS Dynamics AX 2012 the same Item dimensions are shown in 3 groups. They are

1) Product dimensions,

2) Storage dimensions,

3) Tracking dimensions.

First main difference between Item dimensions in AX 2009 is called as Product dimensions.

In product dimensions we have

1. Size

2. Color

3. Configuration

Another difference between AX 2009 to 2012 is storage dimensions are divided in to 2 groups

1) storage dimensions

2) Tracking dimensions.

In Storage dimensions we have

1. Site

2. Warehouse

3. Location

4. Pallet id

In Tracking dimensions we have

1. Serial number

2. Batch number

Regarding assigning of these Dimensions groups to Product or Product master in MS Dynamics AX 2012
